Portfolio - Ashton Keynes Village Website - www.ashtonkeynes.org.uk

A couple of years ago, the village of Ashton Keynes had a new website developed for it, which Technoera designed and developed on behalf of the village and the parish council. The website was designed in close partnership with people in the village. It provides groups, village facilities, local services, local business, the church, the school and other village organisations with the ability to create and update their own web presence in the local community.

Many villages are similar to Ashton Keynes and, following the success there, I though that other villages may be interested in having a similar website. Have a look at the current Ashton Keynes Village Website and see the opportunities and benefits a community website holds. The Ashton Keynes Website won joint first place in the IT section of the Best Village Competition last year.

So Generally..

Once initially setup the website's essentially run themselves. There are minimal costs and the website's do not rely on any one individual to keep them up to date, as it is the users who make updates to the web pages. Updates to the website's are made using a simple to use online administration system. No special technical skills are needed; it is as easy as, for example, typing a word document. We are able to provide interactive training sessions to the organisations that use the website's to help users to get started, and this comes as part of the launching of a new website. There are grants available from local authorities to support the development of the website which could cover nearly all of the initial costs.
